The Rhätischebahn
The Rhätischebahn, or Rhaetian railway, in south-east Switzerland is one of the largest and most complex of the many Swiss private railways. Built to a gauge of one metre, it covers over 350km (220 miles) of stunning Alpine scenery. Recently added to the system is the 21km Vereina Tunnel, the longest narrow-gauge railway tunnel in the world. These pictures were taken on an Along Different Lines tour of the area in June 2002.
